Since I had so much work to do on the big boat this year, I kept my work on the Montgomery to a minimum.
All I really did to the boat was give it a good scrubdown and replace the aging, cracked, aluminum-framed windows with new acrylic, bolted on to the deckhouse a la Don Casey. I was pretty happy with the result.
Since I hadn’t gotten into too much serious maintenance this year, and we had a relatively mild spring, I was able to launch onto Lake Nokomis on “Opening Day” (that is, the first day of the year that Minneapolis’s Moorings allowed to be used by the city).
It was a chilly May 1st, but a beautiful day nonetheless. Here she is, rigged up and ready for her first sail of the year.
